Safe Dance Practice
With Doro Altenburger
As dance teachers, our body is our working tool and it’s our job to keep our students safe in class. The more we understand about our bodies, specifically the mechanics of proper alignment and functional anatomy, the better we can be at our jobs.
Safe dance practice is essential to ensure an effective and healthy dance experience for yourself and your students. In this program we’ll make anatomy accessible and highlight some areas especially useful for fusion bellydance. Discover the mechanics of basic functional anatomy and translate it to your dance, grounded in proper alignment for an expressive dance body. Learn how to keep your students safe, and empower them in becoming experts of their own bodies. Find out how to structure effective and fun warm ups and cool downs, keeping your body and your students’ bodies happy and able to dance for many years to come. The Safe Dance Practice program works as a comprehensive and informative introduction if you don’t have any prior knowledge, as well as an invitation to see it from a different perspective if you’re already well versed in the subject.
